Richard Gets Things Done
It has been a pleasure to serve Region 1 and AD 38 on County Committee (known as LACDP) and State Committee (CDP), and I look forward to continuing getting things done for you through these official party organizations.
I am running for LACDP Vice-Chair representing Region 1. Our Vice-Chair for the past term was largely absent. As the Region Secretary, I found I was doing all of the work. I ran the region meetings. I attended many policy committee meetings and found he was often not there, either. By becoming Vice-Chair, I'll be in a position to do much more.
A big focus for me is going to be a smooth endorsement process across the region. Running the endorsement process for four years in AD38, we have never had an endorsement challenged based on invalid process. That has not been true elsewhere in the region. I will make sure all of the leaders of the AD delegations are thoroughly trained in the endorsement process, I will keep a close eye on the process myself, and I'll train an endorsement coordinator to also oversee this (we have not had an endorsement coordinator for the region since Bruce McFarland resigned).
I like Darren, and I appreciate all he has done in the past. That comes from my heart, and those are important things to remember. He is lovable, and I want to keep working with Darren to help him accomplish what is important to him. I have supported Darren for State Senate, and I would support him again. He's done good union work and community organizing. He is great as caucus chair and E-Board rep. He'd make a great legislator. Darren should focus on that.
We need a working Vice Chair. I'd like to keep working with Darren to help him accomplish what is important to him. I think I can do that best by formally taking over the reins of the region that I have effectively been running for the past couple years. I see a lot of enthusiasm for the new focus on the endorsement process that I will develop.
I intend to thoroughly represent the whole region, not just my corner of it. I want to see an end to "us versus them" attitudes in the region, so we can get Democrats elected. I am on the state E-Board and Legislation Committee, but I'm not trying to run any statewide operation or run for "real" office. I want to focus my efforts to see that we have a very effective region.
Thanks for your support. I look forward to serving you and the region.
Join me on Facebook. I'll certainly recognize and accept a friend request from any of the LACDP members from Region 1. For others, be sure to send a message mentioning VoteRichard.org, and I will accept you as a friend.
I was first elected to LACDP in 2008 to represent the 38th Assembly District.
I am now Secretary of the Delegation and thus responsible for organizing endorsement interviews of local candidates.
This is a very important activity to ensure that the Democratic party is able to support our local candidates. For the past two years, I have also been Region Secretary.
I also serve on LACDP's Rules Committee, which has been working on Bylaws changes to help improve the operation of our Party.
LACDP elected me to to represent the county as a member of the State Central Committee and its Executive Board.
In turn the State Committee has appointed me to its Legislative Committee.
As a software engineer and manager, I am a leader in a small, start-up company ddesigning computer storage equipment.
I am Vice President of the North Valley Democratic Club.
I had previouosly been a leader in the fight against abuse of administration power
and in the voter protection movement.
I have worked closely with the national leaders of Progressive Democrats of America, Democrats.com, AfterDowningStreet.org, and ProtectMyVote.org. See my 2008 endorsement list for the comments made about me by these respected leaders.

I appreciate your support.
